Hello!

IMG_0390.JPEG

My name is Noal Cattone and I am a physical therapist living on Bainbridge Island, Washington. I am living with smoldering multiple myeloma and kidney disease. I am undergoing chemotherapy and hemodialysis while looking for a live kidney donor.

My health journey began in 2017 with a non life-threatening kidney condition which I thought would be easy to treat. Instead, I have been undergoing 8 years of treatment for End-Stage-Renal-Disease (ESRD or kidney failure), and only within the past year did I learn that Smoldering Multiple Myeloma, caused my kidney failure.

Very little research is being done to understand autoimmune diseases like mine, linking hematologic (blood conditions) to kidney disorders. In fact, there is so little research that many (if not most) nephrology and hematology institutions do not recognize there is connection.

With your help telling my story, it could save my life and make a difference beyond me. There are 808,000 Americans with ESRD and 550,000 are on dialysis like me. Most people are on dialysis from diabetes, high blood pressure and other known conditions. There is also a small population ESRD without a known cause. There are others like me being underdiagnosed, who remain untreated or overtreated, going through numerous costly treatments that are both ineffective and toxic.
